Road rage is a term used to refer to violent behavior by a driver of an automobile, which thus causes accidents or incidents on roadways. It can be thought of as an extreme case of aggressive driving. It is caused primarily, but not exclusively, by overcrowding on inadequate road systems that were not designed for modern levels of traffic, thus forcing a driver to set his speed not to his own expectation, but rather that of the prevailing traffic around him.

Mr Baines said Mr Cutting told King: "You cut me up" and King swore and said: "I was in the right lane" before punching him in the nose through the open window. The court heard the blow caused profuse bleeding. King walked away and the police were called.
Magistrate Rosemary Ditchburn said: "The bench is very concerned that this was a serious assault that was unprovoked, and a road rage assault in Dorset does have a guideline of custody."
King was sentenced to the three-month suspended prison sentence and ordered to comply with a supervision requirement and attend a general offending programme and conflict resolution programme.

A road rage driver caused a pile-up of around 50 cyclists after they held him up on a training run through a Sydney suburb.
The resulting smash forced an articulated lorry to lock up, jack-knife and screech to a halt behind the bikes while cars had to swerve to avoid them.
Witnesses said the driver who caused the accident became angry, accelerated in front of the pack and then slammed on his brakes, giving the riders no time to stop.
